Board of Directors

Dear PSHRA NC Board, Committee Chairs, and Members,

Serving as President of PSHRA NC is truly meaningful to me. Public sector HR is not just what we do it’s how we support the people who serve our communities every single day. That responsibility matters, and so does this chapter.

As someone who has seen firsthand how strong, thoughtful HR leadership can shape workplace culture, support employees through challenges, and strengthen entire organizations, I believe deeply in the impact of the work we do in the public sector.

Before looking ahead, I want to express heartfelt appreciation to our past president. Her dedication strengthened our chapter, expanded our reach, and reinforced the value of public sector HR across our state. Because of their leadership, we are stepping into this new term with a strong foundation and strong momentum.

To our Board Members and Committee Chairs, THANK YOU! You give your time generously. You lead with professionalism and heart. You balance demanding careers while still investing in this organization. PSHRA NC thrives because of you.

#WeArePublicSectorHR

As we look ahead, I want to focus our efforts in three key areas that reflect what I believe matters most for our chapter and our members

goals for 2025-2027:

Strengthening Our Community
PSHRA NC should feel welcoming, supportive, and connected. I want every HR professional across North Carolina to feel that this chapter is a place where they belong. We will create intentional opportunities for members to build relationships, share experiences, and support one another.

Elevating Professional Growth
Our members deserve learning experiences that are relevant, practical, and accessible. We will continue expanding virtual offerings, regional engagement, and curated development opportunities so HR professionals at every career stage can grow with confidence.

Expanding Our Impact Across the State
Public sector HR plays a critical role in shaping strong agencies and communities. We will continue building awareness of our chapter, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that HR professionals across North Carolina know they have a trusted network in PSHRA NC.

What excites me most is not just these priorities; it’s the people behind them. I believe deeply in the heart, talent, and dedication of public sector HR professionals in our state. Together, we can continue elevating our profession and strengthening our impact in the communities we serve.

Thank you for your trust and your commitment to public sector HR. I look forward to connecting with many of you throughout this term. Let’s make this a meaningful and impactful term, together.

With appreciation,
Latoya Peterson
