PSHRA NC volunteer opportunities

We love PSHRA NC volunteers! The work of PSHRA NC is accomplished through committees. Join a committee (or two!) today to become more involved in your organization, build stronger relationships with your peers throughout the state, and grow in your profession. 


Qualifications

Officers (President, President-Elect, Treasurer, Treasurer-Elect and Secretary)

To be nominated, elected and continue to serve as an officer, an individual must be an active PSHRA NC member and meet the following criteria:

  1. Have been a member of the chapter for the three years immediately preceding the elective process; OR
  2. Have demonstrated a commitment to the chapter through service at the committee or board level in the year immediately preceding the elective process.

Board of Directors and Committee Chairs

To be nominated, elected and continue as a board member or committee chair, a member must be an active PSHRA NC member and have demonstrated a commitment to the chapter through interest in or service at the committee level.

Committee Members

An active PSHRA NC membership is required to serve as a committee member.

Committee Descriptions

Membership Management and Recruitment Committee

  • Prepares annual membership and renewal application, distributes to members, and collects dues payments
  • Maintains membership directory
  • Recruits new members to PSHRA NC

Audit Committee

  • Three members - audit chair and two members appointed by audit chair
  • Conducts the annual audit of the chapter's books according to established audit procedures and prepares a written report of audit findings and recommendations

Bylaws Committee 

  • Researches, at the direction of the board or membership, issues which may have an effect on the current chapter bylaws 
  • Drafts bylaw changes to be voted on by members

Future Directions and Evaluation Committee

  • Prepares annual conference evaluation forms and compiles results
  • Obtains information through surveys and other methods for the betterment and future advancement of the chapter
  • Researches the value of alternative topics and speakers to enhance effectiveness

Professional Development Committee

  • Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for the chapter

Publicity/Technology Committee

  • Manages the PSHRA NC website, acts as a liaison with website host, keeps information on the website current and up-to date
  • Serves as an advisor to all committees with responsibility for the design of promotional information, brochures and forms
  • Negotiates printing contracts
  • Serves as chapter photographer 
  • Looks for ways to use technology to promote membership and activities and keep the membership informed on current events and activities
Scholarship Committee
  • Formulates procedures to be used by PSHRA NC members for the application for scholarship funds and in the selection of recipients
  • Reviews scholarship applications against established criteria, identifies eligible candidates and recommends scholarship recipients to the Board of Directors
  • Presents the annual scholarship award to the recipient at the awards presentation at the Annual Conference

Mentorship Committee

  • Creates and manages the PSHRA NC mentorship program

Chapter Achievement/Recognition/Awards Committee

  • Compiles and submit s application(s) for chapter award(s) to PSHRA Southern Region and PSHRA (National)
  • Administers chapter award program: establishes criteria for the awards program; develops brochures, forms, and other promotional materials; receives and evaluates applications; selects judges; and presents final award selections for board approval
